Open Call for the performance
Manifesto for a Damaged Soul

Deadline for submissions: June 30, 2026
Open Call

© Toni Flego

Produced by the La Sfera Danza Festival in collaboration with the University of Padua.

We are looking for university students interested in a collaboration on a multidisciplinary performance project.

You will have complete freedom to create and develop an artistic or technological element to integrate into the performance, such as:

  • An interactive stage object
  • A technical/technological structure or device
  • A video projection or multimedia intervention

Project and Partners

The performance is produced by La Sfera Danza Festival, with choreography by dance-author Toni Flego and live music in collaboration with Enrico Benato. The project is also being developed in collaboration with a network of excellence:

  • Università degli Studi di Padova
  • SaMPL (Sound and Music Processing Lab), Dipartimento di Nuove Tecnologie e Linguaggi Musicali – Conservatorio di Musica ‘Cesare Pollini’, Padova
  • CSC – Centro di Sonologia Computazionale – Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione (DEI)

Imagery and Suggestions

The work is inspired by the worlds and visions of Susan Sontag (and her essay “Against Interpretation”), the atmospheres of David Lynch (Twin Peaks), and George Orwell’s Big Brother. The aesthetic oscillates between dystopia, technology, and dreamlike imagery, immersed in an apocalyptic and disorienting atmosphere. The sound research is strongly influenced by the post-punk and dream-pop sounds of Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cocteau Twins.

We are looking for curious people, open to experimentation and interested in the dialogue between art and technology.

How to Participate

To apply for the open call, please send an email to manifestoforadamagedsoul@gmail.com with a short presentation/written text that answers the following questions:

  1. What is your relationship with your body?
  2. What is your current relationship with technology?
  3. What does a “damaged soul” represent, in your opinion?
  4. What would you like to propose or create for this performance?

You will be contacted by the artist.

Deadline for submissions: June 30, 2026

Event Information and Dates

  • Location: Torre Archimede – Dipartimento di Matematica (Via Trieste, 63)
  • Date: Thursday, October 8, 2026
  • Time: From 6:00 PM onwards. The performance (lasting approximately 20 minutes) will be on loop until 7:30 PM
